Days 1-4: Ketchikan
After arriving in Ketchikan, we'll spend our first full day in Alaska seeing the confluence of culture and nature with a visit to Totem Bight State Historic Park before going on a hike on the Perseverance Lake trail.
On our second full day in Ketchikan, we'll learn more about the history of totem poles with a visit to the Totem Heritage Center before hiking the Lower Silvis Lake trail.
We'll then spend our final day in Ketchikan learning about the history of the area with visits to Tongass Historical Museum and the historical Creek Street.
Days 5-9: Sitka
After taking a ferry to Sitka, we'll spend our first full day there learning about wildlife rehabilitation programs at the Raptor Center and the Fortress of the Bear.
Participants will then get a day to freely explore Sitka and it's several hiking trails as well as history and culture.
We'll then spend our third full day in Sitka learning about the Russian colonial period with visits to S. Michael's Cathedral and the Russian Bishop's House before going on a hike on the Harbor Mountain trail.
For our final day in Sitka, we'll explore the confluence of nature and culture with visits to the Sitka Sound Science Center and Harbor Mountain Brewing.
Days 10-14: Juneau
After taking a final ferry to Juneau, we'll spend our first full day there learning about Alaskan history with visits to the Alaska State Museum and the Last Chance Mining Museum.
We'll then spend our second full day in Juneau learning more about our impact on the environment with visits to Sealaska Heritage Museum and a hike on the West Glacier trail.
We'll then spend our final day on a visit to the incredible Mendenhall Glacier for a final sojourn into Alaska's beautiful nature.
