Days 1-8: San Juan

After arriving in Puerto Rico, we'll spend our first full day learning about the arrival Spanish colonization in Puerto Rico with visits to Fort San Cristobal and Castillo San Felipe del Morro.

We'll the spend our second full day exploring the connection between culture and architecture in the country with visits to Cafe Don Ruiz and the Museo de las Americas.

For our third full day in the country, we'll learn about some of the religious history of Puerto Rico with visits to San Jose Church and the San Juan Cathedral.

We'll then spend our fourth full day on a day trip to nearby Toa Alta to learn more about rural colonial architecture in one of Puerto Rico's oldest small towns central to its early agricultural industry.

We'll then spend our sixth full day in Puerto Rico with a brunch at Mercado la Carreta- nestled in its historical building- before participants will get an afternoon to freely explore the city.

Participants will then get a free day to explore San Juan and the nearby communities on their own and learn more about the local history and culture for their final full day before departure.

Itineraries and daily schedules are subject to change. We expect to do everything listed in the itinerary, though the order may be rearranged based on weather or other local conditions.
