Before the time of Alexander the Great marching soldiers across Central Asia, before Spartan warrior elites battling Athenian naval supremacy, even bore the myths of Herakles and Achilles; there was a far more ancient, Ancient Greece dominated by the Aegean city-states like those on the island of Crete who would come to be known as the Minoans. But why didn't these sea-faring masters of commerce get the fame of the more Classical Greeks?

Days 1-8: Porto
After arriving in Porto, we'll then spend our first full day traversing the open air market of Mercado de Bolhao before touring one of Portugal's oldest port wine cellars of Caves Ferreira.
For our second full day in Porto, we'll take a day trip to nearby Braga home to a thousand year old church in a two thousand year old city.
​
We'll then spend our third full day in Porto exploring the gold-laden interior of Igreja de São Francisco before getting dinner from a Portuguese-African fusion restaurant Morabeza Boavista.
For our second full day in We'll then learn more about Portugal's storytelling tradition with a visit to the incredibly beautiful bookstore of Livraria Lello before catching a live performance at the Teatro Nacional Sao Joao.

​We'll then spend our fifth full day in Portugal on a day trip to the beautiful seaside town of Matosinhos to explore the incredible town and relax on its beaches.
Participants will then get a day to freely explore Porto to visit any final locations on their bucket lists before we head off to our next destination.​

Days 1-4: Rome
After arriving in Rome, we'll spend our first day visiting St. Peter's Basilica and Campo di Fiori to learn about the influence of religion on Renaissance Italy.
​
We'll then spend our second full day learning about the impact of the end of the Roman Empire on the Italian peninsula with visits to the Roman Colosseum and the Basilica di Santa Maria.
For our final day in Rome, we'll learn about Rome's place in the art history of the Italian Renaissance with visits to the Sistine Chapel and the Villa Farnesina.

Days 5-7: Florence
After taking a train to Florence, we'll spend the afternoon walking the halls of the Galleria Degli Uffuzi.
​
We'll then spend our first full day in Florence on a day trip to explore the Galleria dell'Accademia- home to the world-famous statue of David.
​
Participants will then get a day to freely explore Florence and its art, culture, and history on their own.
Days 8-10: Genoa
After taking a train to Genoa, we'll spend the afternoon visiting the art inside the Genoa Cathedral.
​
We'll then spend our first full day in Genoa on a day trip to nearby Bogliasco to explore the architecture, food, and beautiful beaches of this seaside retreat.
​
For our second full day in Genoa, we'll explore the maritime history of the Renaissance with visits to the Galata Maritime Museum and the Casa di Colombo.
Days 11-14: Milan
After taking a train to Milan, we'll spend the afternoon exploring the crypts of San Bernardino Ossuary.
​
We'll then have a Divinci day in Milan visiting the Leonardo DaVinci Museum of Science & Technology and Leonardo's Horse statue.
​
We'll then spend our last day of the trip seeing some final masterpieces of Italian Renaissance art at the Pinacoteca di Brera.

Days 1-5: Athens
After arriving in Athens, we'll spend our first full day exploring the remains of the mythical the Acropolis of Athens and the Acropolis Museum.
​
We'll then spend our second full day in Athens learning more about the daily lives of Ancient Athenians with visits to the Ancient Agora and the Theatre of Dionysus.
For our third day, we'll explore the National Archaeology Museum before visiting the incredible Tower of the Winds to learn more about the Classical Era.
We'll then spend our final day in Athens with visits to the Athens Olympic Museum and the Mud Lab to learn about the legacy of the Ancient Greeks on our modern world.

Days 6-9: Santorini
After taking a ferry to Santorini, participants will get their first full day on the island to freely explore its culture, history, and incredible beaches.
​
Participants will then get a day off to freely explore the island's history and culture and enjoy its incredible beaches.
We'll then spend our third full day on the island visiting the Archaeological Museum of Thera and Prehistoric Akrotiri to learn about the Cycladic Civilization.
Days 10-14: Heraklion
After taking a ferry to Crete, we'll spend the afternoon visiting the Heraklion Archaeo Museum to learn about the Bronze Age Minoans.

We'll then spend our first full day on Crete wandering the ruins of Knossos before having a wine tasting at Lyrarakis Winery.
​
For our second full day on Crete, we'll take a day trip to the Cave of Zeus to learn about the mythology of Ancient Greece and Crete's connections to it.
For our third full day in Heraklion, we'll take a day hike in Archanes to a mountaintop monastery to learn about the arrival of Christianity to Roman Greece.
​
For our fourth full day in Heraklion, we'll explore the downtown area of Heraklion to see the ancient architecture that still defines the city.
​
Participants will then get a day off to freely explore the Central Crete's history and culture and enjoy its incredible natural interior.
